ABOUT

 

Beacon Hill Out of School Hours (BH OOSH) is a parent-run, not for profit organisation, established in 2013 in the grounds of Beacon Hill Public School, which strives to provide quality out of school hours care to school age children in the community. Approximately 225 families rely on BH OOSH to provide Before & After School Care.

"At Beacon Hill OOSH (BHOOSH) we believe that for children to become autonomous and confident individuals, they must be provided with the opportunities to be so.

​

  It is through this belief that we have aimed to create a home-like environment in which children are ‘enriched beyond the classroom’; in the sense that they have the opportunity to learn through play and measured risk.

​

 This opportunity for enrichment is predominantly implemented through the assurance of ergonomic environments with complementary resources and equipment. These environments, coupled with nurturing and supportive educators will promote and be dedicated to the provision of both active play and rest. This will guide and inspire our children to reach their full potential through the development of dispositions of curiosity and experimentation.

 We believe that through the provision of these right environments, with the right equipment, resources and educators, an atmosphere that fosters our children’s development of strong emotional, social, cultural and spiritual wellbeing; and physical health is ensured.

 Supplementary, BHOOSH advocates a flexible and child-led program that recognises that all children are unique; which means that they have different learning and development needs, strengths and interests. However, elements of routine also play their role in providing a sense of belonging and becoming to our service."
